This site respects your privacy. Here's exactly what happens when you visit.

What is collected

This site uses a small first-party analytics request, sent to /api/t and forwarded to Azure Application Insights, to understand which posts are read, where traffic comes from at a broad level, whether pages are useful, and how fast pages load. It collects:

  • Page path and title — which pages are visited, without URL query strings or fragments
  • Traffic source — direct, internal, or external referrer type; for external referrers, only the origin domain is sent, not the full referring URL
  • Campaign tags — allowlisted utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, and utm_term values when present
  • Coarse device context — browser family, operating system family, device class, viewport-width bucket, and light/dark color-scheme preference
  • Page-load and rendering timing — DNS, connection, server response, download, DOM processing, total load duration, and Web Vitals-style paint/layout signals
  • Reading engagement — coarse scroll-depth and active-time buckets, plus the underlying percentage/seconds measurements for that page view
  • Approximate country or region — derived from your IP address at the time of the request

What is not collected

  • No analytics cookies or local storage — this site's analytics script does not set cookies, local storage, or browser-based visitor IDs
  • No personal identifiers — no names, email addresses, or account information
  • No persistent session tracking — there is no way to identify you as a returning visitor
  • No cross-site tracking — no third-party analytics, advertising pixels, or tracking tags of any kind
  • No full query strings or URL fragments — only the page path and allowlisted campaign tags are sent, so private data in other URL parameters is not included
  • No full referrer URLs — external referrers are reduced to the origin domain
  • No raw user agent stored by this site — only coarse browser, operating system, and device categories are sent
  • No raw IP addresses stored by this site — Application Insights uses client IP for geolocation and zeroes the stored IP field by default

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, the analytics request is skipped.

Why it is collected

The only purpose is to understand which posts are being read, how people find the site at a domain or campaign level, how the site performs, and whether posts are actually engaged with. There is no advertising, no data sharing, and no commercial purpose.

Who processes it

Analytics data is processed by Microsoft Azure Application Insights. You can read more about how Microsoft handles data in their privacy statement.
